INVISIBLE NO MORE!
ABOUT THE CAUSE
Walk to be Seen in 2023! ImmUnity Canada will unite its supporters across Canada in April 2023 to be invisible no more. For too long, we have not been treated fairly with our “invisible disease” by the government, health service providers, in our workplaces, places of education and by the general public. This year, the walk will amplify the voice of patients and those who support us to share why it is so important that people understand our needs, and the implications of not respecting or upholding our rights as individuals and as patients with a rare disease.
We hope to raise $20,000 this year from your fundraising efforts. Sign up as an individual and move around your living room, sign up as a family and get your school motivated, or get the competition going and form a team at your place of work. No matter how you participate or how big of a walking challenge or fundraising target you set, we are here to support you.
LOCATION, DATE AND TIME
Coming to our national conference in Ottawa?
Great! Join other attendees for our walk to Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Ontario where our “zebra herd” will share messages about our needs, hopes and desires to be seen. The walk in Ottawa will be a short 1km walk to Parliament Hill from the Delta Hotel conference centre. The walk will take place from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.
Elsewhere in Canada
Join us from wherever you are! We are hoping that everyone can participate on Saturday April 15th 2023 at any time, but no worries if it is another date in April. If you are participating from elsewhere, make sure to follow us on social media to see updates throughout the day, as well as share your stories with other members!
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
This year, registration is completely free so that we can get as many members engaged in raising awareness about the importance of being invisible no more!
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
This year, you can participate by yourself, with your family, or put a team together with your friends or work colleagues from anywhere in Canada. We will provide you with the resources and support you need to raise awareness and fundraise on behalf of ImmUnity Canada. Whether you are moving around your home, walking down the street, participating in Ottawa or wanting to set yourself more of a challenge, we are here to support you!.
RECOGNIZING YOUR FUNDRAISING EFFORTS
The funds that you raise this year will help us to increase the support and services we provide to meet the needs of our members. To say a big thank you we have a variety of ways to reward you the more you fundraise! Please note that prizes are provided per individual or team member raising the below amounts:
- Raise $25 – Get an ImmUnity Canada Zebra touque
- Raise $125 – Get a Walk for Immunodeficiency T-Shirt to stand out in the crowd!
- Raise $1,000 – Receive an ImmUnity Canada hoodie
For an individual who raises a $1,000 or more, they will also receive a shout out at the start of the walk in Ottawa and on social media, as well as have their name mentioned in our quarterly newsletter and annual report. Individual, family and teams who raise the most funds will be given an award at the national conference Awards Dinner.
Please note that you must hit your fundraising goals to receive gifts no later than April 3rd 2023 in order to receive your rewards in time for your walk! For those attending the walk at conference, you will receive your rewards in-person from ImmUnity Canada staff or volunteers on the day.
EVENT SAFETY AND COVID-19
Your enjoyment and safety are important to us. When registering you will be asked to read our waiver and release form as well as our COVID-19 protocols for events which can be found here.
IMMUNITY CANADA CHARITABLE DONATION RECEIPT
When you donate to ImmUnity Canada, you will receive an automated official charitable donation receipt and an acknowledgement email from our fundraising service provider Kindful. If you donate to ImmUnity Canada at an event with cash or cheque, or you provided an in-kind asset or service, you will receive an official donation receipt. Any donation over $5 will receive an official charitable donation receipt. In addition, ImmUnity Canada sends an end-of-year donation receipt to all donors.
