Newborn screening identifies conditions in infants before symptoms appear, and both Canada and the United States have made great progress in the field.

In the US, screening for severe combined immunodeficiency, or SCID, has been implemented nationwide, ensuring equal access for all babies.

In Canada, significant progress has also been made, where newborn screening for SCID has been implemented in all provinces and territories, except one, and one province is even screening for XLA.

On this International Neonatal Screening Day, we celebrate these great accomplishments and continue our efforts to implement SCID screening across the world.
