Program and Application Guidelines
Description
The ImmUnity Canada Christine Duncan Memorial Scholarships are intended to support youth (aged 17-25) currently enrolled in a recognized Canadian higher education program, and whose life has been affected by primary immunodeficiency.
Named in honour of former Immunity Canada board chair, and longtime member, Christine Duncan, a nurse and educator who herself was a primary immunodeficiency patient.
Applicants are required to submit an essay demonstrating how primary immunodeficiency has impacted their lives. Up to three (3) letters of support may also be included to support the application.
Up to six scholarships will be awarded, subject to the number and quality of applications received, adjudication may vary to include a greater number of awards. Awards will range from $500 to a maximum of $3,000.
All scholarship winners will be informed by September 1st, 2026.

Eligibility
The applicant must:
- Be accepted to and enrolled in a Canadian institution of higher education. This can be any of the following:
- Public or private university,
- Public college, or
- Institute of technology or art
- Be between the ages of 17-25
- Be affected by primary immunodeficiency disease
Application Instructions
- Application must be single-sided, single-spaced, using a 12-point font and 1-inch margins. Maximum of 3 pages.
- Each application must be submitted as a single PDF document and contain the following items in the following order (described in applicant checklist) to be considered complete.
Review Process and Evaluation
Awards will be made on a competitive basis. Submitted applications will be reviewed by the Immunity Canada Conference Committee and Immunity Canada Board of Directors to confirm eligibility, alignment with the goals of the scholarship and for ranking.
Criteria for evaluation will include:
- Academic excellence (candidate CV, letter of support)
- Personal Impact (personal essay)
- Extracurricular activities (if applicable)
- Volunteer activities (if applicable)
