Community Comes Together for Zoey and Misha: Stem Cell Swab Drive Raises Awareness and Hope

July 23, 2025

On June 10th, 2025, a heartfelt collaboration between SickKids Immunology Clinical Nurse Specialist Jessica Willett Pachul, Canadian Blood Services, and Peel Regional Police brought the community together for a special cause. A stem cell swab drive was held in support of twin sisters Zoey and Misha Prajapati, who are living with chronic granulomatous disease (CGD) and are in need of a hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT).

The event aimed not only to find a potential match but also to raise awareness about the critical need for stem cell donors from diverse backgrounds, a cause deeply important to the twin’s father, Sanjay Prajapati. Sanjay’s passion for patient advocacy and increasing donor diversity was the driving force behind the initiative.

The day was made even more memorable for Misha and Zoey, especially Misha, who dreams of becoming a police officer. The Peel Regional Police gave the girls a special tour of a police cruiser—complete with sirens!

Thanks to the community’s support, the drive successfully registered 49 new potential donors, bringing hope to the Prajapati family and many others in need.
