How has primary immunodeficiency impacted your daily life?
It made me think about how I could pivot if I needed to so I could still do the things I love and enjoy.
What’s one misconception about primary immunodeficiencies that you
wish more people understood?
That we are all the same. Each of us is unique and deserves to be listened to when we express our needs
How has sharing your story impacted you?
I shared my story at an education day this year. At the end another participant who was younger than I chatted with me and expressed how much hope they had after the event.
Please take as much space as you would like to tell us about your experiences.
Living with an immunodeficiency can be like riding an emotional roller coaster. There’s ups and downs and sometimes things take you for a loop. You’re on a ride you never really wanted to be on in the first place but you sure are glad you are not on the ride alone. I’m so grateful to the supportive people in my life who are on the ride with me. ImmUnity Canada has been a big support.
If you could send a singular, powerful message to the world about your condition, what would it be and why?
I’m a person who happens to have a PI. My PI is part of who I am but it’s not all of me.
