Suzanne
Suzanne is a long standing member of Immunity Canada and had at one time represented Manitoba as a board member when the organisation was previously known as CIPO. Presently as a volunteer, she is working to develop positive connections and raising PI awareness among health professionals. As a patient with PI and former teacher, she understands the wealth of knowledge that medical professionals have to share with patients and the importance of collaboration. She has been in a number of boards including Special Olympics, Manitoba Physical Education Teachers Association and Duke of Edinburgh Award. As well, she has been a long time coach of various sports at school and Special Olympic levels. Plus a soccer coach at grassroots, club and provincial levels.
Dr. Chrystyna Kalicinsky
Dr Kalicinsky began her practice in Adult Clinical Immunology and Allergy in 2000. In 2007 she began the Manitoba SCIG Home Program. From 2009 until 2020 she was a Training Program Director at the University of Manitoba, training the next generation of clinical immunologists and allergists. A large part of her practice is devoted to immunodeficiency.
Dr. Tamar Rubin
Tamar Rubin completed medical school at University of Toronto, general pediatrics residency at University of Alberta, Allergy and Immunology training at University of Manitoba, and fellowship in Primary Immunodeficiency at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Centre. Her primary clinical and research interests involve pediatric primary immunodeficiencies, and she is currently active in projects including development of a Canadian National Inborn Errors of Immunity Patient Registry, and gene editing for CD3delta SCID. She excited about emerging diagnostic and treatment tools in the field, and is hopeful for a bright and healthy future for all children and adults with primary immunodeficiency in Canada.
Marianne Miguel
Marianne graduated from the University of Manitoba with her Bachelor of Nursing degree. She started her career in adult acute medicine, before working in the Adult Allergy and Immunology clinic. It was there that she developed an interest in primary immunodeficiency, particularly in Ig therapy. Currently works as the nurse clinician for the Pediatric Immunology Clinic.
Heryhanna
Heryhanna Parra was diagnosed with CVID in 2019. Since her diagnosis, she has reached many of her dreams which include traveling to different places, graduating from nursing, and becoming a parent. She is currently finishing her masters program to become a nurse practitioner. She credits her diagnosis for changing her outlook on life and inspiring her to make every moment count.
Lynne
After earning 2 degrees in English literature, raising 3 children, and living in 4 countries while immersed in 8 different cultures, Disabled artist Lynne Carol Martin now studies theatre part-time at the University of Winnipeg. Since turning 60 in 2014, she has written 3 full-length plays, 3 short plays, and a children’s musical, and has stage managed 2 Fringe shows. Her short play Houses was performed in London, UK, by Little Lion Theatre (2022), and by the Lakeshore Players near St. Paul, Minnesota (2024).
Lynne holds membership in the Manitoba Association of Playwrights, the Playwrights Guild of Canada, the Manitoba Writers Guild, Arts AccessAbility Network Manitoba, and serves as board president for Plume (formerly the Winnipeg International Writers Festival).
