Tell us about yourself!

I am currently a 4th year student studying at Alberta University of the Arts. I am getting my bachelor’s in design, majoring in graphic design and advertising. In my spare time I enjoy playing basketball and staying active. I also enjoy making art, mostly drawing and painting.

When did you start working at ImmUnity Canada?

I started working at ImmUnity Canada on July 8th.

What motivated you to join ImmUnity Canada?

I was motivated to join ImmUnity Canada because of their mission. I think what ImmUnity Canada does for their communities across Canada is important work. I was also driven to join because it is exciting to be able to be a part of a growing organization that has a lot of potential to make an impact. They are community centered, non-profit that supports, educates, and advocates for important issues. Which is valuable work that is neat to be a part of.

Tell us a little about your role/what you’ll be working on in your time here

During my time here with ImmUnity Canada, I will be designing the 2023 Annual Report. I want the report to represent the brand’s warm and community centered nature. I will also be helping with designing posters and a bit of social media!

What do you enjoy most about working at ImmUnity Canada?

I enjoy working for an organization that is trying to do a lot of good in the world. It gives my work a sense of purpose and is motivating. I also enjoy being in an office that is collaborative and filled with very knowledgeable and hardworking people.

What is your greatest accomplishment & how did you go about achieving it?

I would say taking a risk and getting accepted into art school, funny enough. It takes a lot of guts to jump into something that feels like the right path, but to others seems a little out there. I achieved that because I was open to starting over and trying new things outside of my comfort zone.

What have you learned about yourself from working at ImmUnity Canada?

I think I’m going to learn a lot more about myself once I am more into it. I think that I learned that I very much love the field I’m working in, and I am excited to see where it takes me!

How has working here had an impact on you?

Working here has reminded me how important non-profit’s works are to attaining a better, functioning society. Joining this organization and the position that I am in will also help me gain professional experience and an opportunity to expand my skills I’ve learned from my schooling.

If you could encourage someone else to join ImmUnity Canada, what would you say?

I would say, do it, I think that there is something special about working for a non-profit. Immunity Canada is a good organization with a lot of caring people working together from all walks of life.

We’re sick and tired, but we’re not alone.

ImmUnity Canada is a national charity with five provincial chapters across the country.

We empower Canadians impacted by immunodeficiency disorders to live well through education, support, advocacy, community-building, and research.
