Nurse Spotlight: Karen

May 9, 2024

Meet Karen, a paediatric Registered Nurse and member of the ImmUnity Canada Nurse Advisory Committee!

Could you tell us a little about your role in the workplace?

I coordinate care for several clinics in my nursing role and see patients and their families when they come to the clinic.

What do you enjoy about working in this role?

I enjoy working with all the infants and children with their families coming to the specialized clinic and being a part of the health care team that takes care of them in an ambulatory setting.

What is your greatest accomplishment in your role and how did you go about achieving it?

Being able to teach families on how to take care of their children at home administering a blood product or medications.

Tell us a little about what you’ve achieved as a member of the Nurse Advisory Committee:

I have really enjoyed the networking with the other nurses on the Nurse Advisory Committee. Sharing ideas and tips with the other nurses has been very satisfying.

How has volunteering for us had an impact on you?

I have enjoyed being a part of Immunity Canada to help spread the word to our families about information and supports that are available to them with a child that has an immune deficiency in our local area.

What is one of your hidden talents that not many people know about?

I love photography, especially taking photos of infants and nature.

We’re sick and tired, but we’re not alone.

ImmUnity Canada is a national charity with five provincial chapters across the country.
