Update on Canadian Blood Services News

August 15, 2022

In response to recent news items, we would like to state that regarding the rumours of Canadian Blood Services and the possibility of the announcement of an impending deal with a plasma manufacturer:

  • The Canadian Immunodeficiencies Patient Organization (CIPO), supports CBS and any efforts to increase Canada’s plasma supply including any public/private partnership.
  • If CBS enters into a public/private partnership with a plasma manufacturer it would most likely increase plasma collection in Canada and plasma supply in Canada for Canadian patients – both of which are needed.
