In response to recent news items, we would like to state that regarding the rumours of Canadian Blood Services and the possibility of the announcement of an impending deal with a plasma manufacturer:
- The Canadian Immunodeficiencies Patient Organization (CIPO), supports CBS and any efforts to increase Canada’s plasma supply including any public/private partnership.
- If CBS enters into a public/private partnership with a plasma manufacturer it would most likely increase plasma collection in Canada and plasma supply in Canada for Canadian patients – both of which are needed.
